My kennel

Hello! My name is Patrizia Bernicchi and I breed LHASA APSO dogs. I have always loved all kinds of dogs, but my interest grew much stronger when I saw  a Shih-Tzu for the first time. I had never seen one before, and I fell in love with the beauty of these Tibetan dogs! I wanted to know everything about them : their history, the blood lines, genetics, and much more! I bought my first couple of dogs, and there my adventure began!   I became a recognised breeder with the F.C.I. and the E.N.C.I. taking the “PABER’S” affix that would from then on be the trademark of my dogs.   Six years ago something new happened : I met a Lhasa Apso  that stole my heart. I am talking of “Hylan Sho Tru Flip Top”, known as Tiger, a beautiful dog of American lineage, who is now Italian and breeding champion.   Was it true love at first sight? I can’t really say..... But what is certain is that Tiger became my very first Lhasa Apso, and he will always have a special place in my heart!    Later on I imported other dogs from America : a female, “Hylan Sho Tru I’ve Got Moxie”, and two males AM.CH. “Hylan Sho Tru Snow Storm” and AM.CH. “Hylan Sho Tru Special Date”. After these came a couple more females : “Chakpori’s Victory” and “Morning Star di Cerretelle”. Making the right breeding choices, and selecting carefully, I have managed to create my my own type of Lhasa Apso, always, of course in the complete respect of the standard. The first Lhasa I produced, “CH. Paber’s Gilda”, having obtained brilliant show results in Italy and abroad, now lives in America with Mrs. Pat Keen Fernandez in the “Hylan Sho Tru” breeding establishment. I prefer, and therefore try to produce, dogs with important, well built heads, with a lively and intelligent expression. I am  conscious of the fact that it is the head that gives a breed its typical expression. I also give great importance to containing the size of the my dogs, and respecting all the directions of the standard. I consider a correct angle of the hind quarts to be essential as this is what gives the dog its  elegant movement. I am also particularly intransigent about the line of the back, that must be solid, straight and parallel to the ground. A special eye of regard, however, is  given to maintaining the traditional character of the Lhasa Apso, such an important part of the heritage in this ancient breed.

In 2006 FCI recognizes Russkiy toy, I had heard about this new breed and it made me very curious, a very small dog that had been selected in Russia and that at last had had an official aknowledgment. I certainly  wouldn' t have started this adventure if a friend of mine hadn't proposed me to take these very small dogs.  As it is my habit, I tried to find as many information about the breed as possible, and I must confess i started liking the idea to have this small, lively dog with such a good temper. Why shouldn't I start this adventure? And it was this way that I imported the first subjects in Italy, a sable-red female called  Okulina Iz Chistogo Istoka and Rus Komilfo Bon Bon, a fawn male. I am glad I did this choice and I hope  I will be clever enough to keep it in best possible way.
